Dr. Cindi Millward was delighted to return to her Western Slope roots when choosing a life in Montrose, having grown up in Durango. With her love of science and her compassionate nature, Dr. Millward knew early on that she wanted to become a physician. After attending Montana State University for her undergraduate education, she attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine and remained in Denver for her general surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital. Knowing she wanted to return to Southwest Colorado to practice, Dr. Millward worked in Montrose on an elective rotation during residency. She immediately felt at home in the community and is thrilled to have the opportunity to practice in Montrose.
With expertise in all facets of general surgery, Dr. Millward performs endoscopy, hernia, breast, colorectal, endocrine, anti-reflux, thoracic, emergency, advanced laparoscopic, and robotic surgery. She was drawn to general surgery because it often provides the most direct opportunity for immediate relief and improvement in a patient’s condition. She likes that general surgery is a diverse and evolving field with lifelong learning opportunities as advances in medicine and technology emerge. As a surgeon, Dr. Millward says she “values the opportunity to help patients through unexpected changes in their health, provide tangible solutions to health problems, and get patients back to their lives.”
Dr. Millward and her husband Jason enjoy spending time in the San Juan Mountains hiking, skiing, biking, and rafting. Montrose is the perfect location for their active lifestyle, providing access to the nearby mountains, deserts, and rivers they love. Dr. Millward can also be found silversmithing, making stained glass, and painting in her free time.
Dr. Millward is honored to provide a benefit to the community of Montrose through her practice. “Caring for patients is a privilege, and I am dedicated to providing excellent surgical care and building trusting relationships with my patients.”
